Hi, I’m Jeff Stony
I write Mostly Mountain, a travel guide to Kyrgyzstan.
The best of Kyrgyzstan is hard to find online. The cafes, trails and yurt camps worth your time mostly travel by word of mouth. This is where I write them down.
In the guides you’ll read “we”. That’s Mostly Mountain talking, and I’m the one writing.
How we research a guide
Every guide starts with the places people in Kyrgyzstan actually go, then each detail gets checked before it goes in:
- Opening hours, prices and addresses come from the place itself: its own website, menu or listing.
- Park fees, transport and rules come from official sources and the local press, such as 24.kg, Kaktus Media and AKIpress.
- Map pins come from OpenStreetMap. If we only know the rough area, the pin says so.
- Each guide shows the date it was last checked, and prices carry the month we saw them.
Nobody pays to be in a guide. The photos come from the locals and travellers who took them, shown through Instagram’s own embeds or, for cover photos, with their permission, and always credited to them. The editorial policy has the details.
